Hal first picked up a camera in the 1970s and worked as a professional photographer to support himself through college. He had his own business photographing weddings and commercial projects throughout
South Carolina.
Hal began a career in the software
industry after graduation, but photography remained a passion. He has since photographed subjects all over the world and always has his camera with him so he can capture “the shot” whenever one presents itself.
Hal’s award-winning work spans several decades and explores interesting subject matter across many countries.
Hal’s daughter and biggest fan, Maggie, has a degree in studio art and shares a love of art with her father. She finally convinced Hal to start publishing work from his portfolio by agreeing that she will handle the logistics.
Hal lives in Blowing Rock, North Carolina with his wife, Melaine, and their cat, Bobby. Maggie lives a short drive away in Asheville, North Carolina, with her husband, Richard, and their assortment of pets. Hal's youngest daughter, Abby, lives in Miami, Florida.
