On a trip to visit my oldest daughter at Wake Forest University in 2004, something unusual caught my eye. Amidst the typical rural scenery, a uniquely decorated bale of hay stood out, proudly displaying a patriotic theme. I made a mental note to capture this sight on my way back home.
When I finally took the shot, "God Bless America" came to life. It wasn't just about the hay bale, but what it represented. Even several years after 9/11, the spirit of patriotism was alive and strong, especially in rural America. This image serves as a reminder of how communities can come together amidst grief and fear with pride and resilience.
